What is Miracle Coat

B72 (Miracle Coat) is an Ethyl methacrylate copolymer. It is a general purpose resin with excellent flexibility, unique in possessing a high tolerance for ethanol. This property allows its use in applications where strong solvents cannot be tolerated.

B-72 (Miracle Coat) is a durable and non-yellowing acrylic resin, which can be described chemically as an ethyl-methacrylate copolymer. It is soluble in acetone, ethanol, toluene, and xylenes, among other solvents and solvent mixtures.

B-72 (Miracle Coat) has low reactivity with sensitive pigments to produce stable and durable coating. It is compatible with acrylic, oil paint, and silicones. It is well suited for white and metallic aerosols, clear coatings for wood, nitrocellulose modified coatings for general product finishing, pigment dispersion, flexographic printing inks, and gravure plastic coatings.

When dissolved in toluene it can be used as a coating to fix water soluble inks before washing. It can also be used as an in-painting medium and to consolidate frescoes and wood sculpture surfaces. B72 (Miracle Coat) has been used in conservation in international museum.

It can be applied in either clear or pigmented coatings by a variety of application methods; it can be used in combination with them to produce coatings with a wide variety of characteristics with emphasis on stability and transparency.

One of the major advantages of B-72 (Miracle Coat) as a consolidator is that it is stronger and harder, it is more flexible than many of the other typically used adhesives and tolerates more stress and strain on a joint than most others.

The drawback to using B-72 (Miracle Coat) is related to its handling properties: as in the case of other acrylic resins it is difficult to apply as an adhesive and to manipulate with precision and must be applied by a professional.
